About

Hello!
My name is Shiho, and I’m the writer behind this blog.
I was born and raised in Aomori — a place many people outside Japan have probably never heard of.

“So… where is Aomori?”
Let me explain!
Aomori Prefecture is located in the northernmost part of Japan’s main island, Honshu.

In recent years, more and more people have been visiting Japan.
But! But! But!!
My hometown, Aomori, is still not well known at all.

In the 2023 ranking of foreign visitors by prefecture, Aomori placed 25th out of 47.
We can do better than that, right?
That realization is what pushed me to start this blog.

I’ve lived in Aomori for about 30 years.
As a local, I want to share things you won’t find on official websites —
the small stories, the everyday scenery, and all the warmth and beauty that make this region special.

I also love anime, manga, games, and Japanese culture,
so you’ll sometimes see posts about those topics too!

And there’s something I should say:
I’m not very good at English — writing or speaking.
I’ve struggled with it since junior high school,
and even now in my 30s… well, some things haven’t changed.

But we live in an amazing era.
Before translating anything,
I write every sentence in Japanese with all my love, passion, and soul.
Then I rely on my helpful machine friends to translate my thoughts into English in a clearer way than I could ever do alone.
(Thank you, translation tools!)

Because of this process, some expressions might feel a little unusual,
or my passion and love might not come through as strongly as I intended.
If you notice anything strange or unclear, I’d be happy if you let me know.

Thank you so much for reading.
I hope this blog helps you enjoy Aomori and Japanese culture —
even just a little.
